LNER class B1 4-6-0 - British Railways no 61050 - Bristol Temple Meads - 8.8.1964

LNER class B1 4-6-0 - British Railways no 61050 - Bristol Temple Meads - 8.8.1964
This is a nice one. Imagine that lot at the end of a platform these days! Scary PA announcements, dayglo jackets, PCSO (Transport), risk assessments - all things in the future then!
This is an unusual scene. A summer Saturday working - the 12.15pm from Weston-super-Mare to Sheffield, hauled by an ex-LNER B1, arriving at Bristol. It was taken by Dad on 8.8.1964.
The Taunton MRC Bath Green Park layout was featured in the January 2012 Railway Modeller and among the photos was another LNER B1 61143 recalling a similar duty on 12.9.1964.

Alan Mays, Polyrus, and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

A really nice rare shot of one of my favourite locos. It was uncommon to see a B1 so far south, although a dozen or so were loaned to the Southern Region in the 1950s.
Over 400 of this class built but only 2 made it to 'preservation'.

Added to Vintage Photos Theme Park - April month's theme - 1960s. Despite coming from a family of tailors, I appear to have no needlework photos for this week's theme.

Very nice! The group of kids so close to the tracks was what caught my eye, too--definitely from the time before risk assessments and such!
