This photograph is from the late John Sutters' collection. It is not by Phil Sutters.

Thanks Polyrus. It was a bit of a slog scanning & uploading them, but so many people have been appreciative, it was worth doing. It's a bit quieter over here, but Flickr just got ridiculous. I have kept a handful of photos over there and the stats. are bizarre.
Although mainly a GWR fan and later an enthusiast for the SDJR, Dad did acquire a large collection of LNER prints. I am wondering whether to start up one or more big four (+SDJR) groups, as all the current railway groups seem very general and therefore very large. What do you think?

I am still undecided myself here on ip, regarding specific railway groups. I think I decided to wait a while and see if the railway community grows on ip, as it does not have anywhere near the same following as over on the dark side (Fl*ckr).
I do have a few old photos for each of the big four regions. However, not enough for me to consider starting another group myself. I find it too time consuming with the groups I have already.
Stats on Fl*ckr: I have no faith in them. Either there are glitches in their 'stats' system or they are being manually inflated because they have no semblance of reality.

You do seem to have a lot on the go! I think the big problem here is the visibility. Google something and you won't find anything here, unless you bore down very deep - if at all. I think I saw that the site's developers are working on improving it. If that improved, specialist groups would make more sense, as one wouldn't just have to rely on the Ipernity community.

A very valid point Phil - about visibility. When searching for images on Google for other purposes I have twice noticed images from Ipernity and been quite surprised. If Ip images do start showing on Google results on a regular basis, this must surely attract more people to visit Ip and also help to swell the membership. It makes good business sense for the 'developers' to make this issue a priority.
