Butterflies and Moths

These beautiful moths fold up so small and dive deep into the throat of the flower. The flowers are about 6 inches across.. so that gives scale to the moth ! She was taking turns with dozens of Bees and it was deep dusk. Two more photos on the Notes at Top Left

In a year so bereft of butterflies , I am delighted to see this beautiful one . They lay their eggs on Sunflowers such as these... this one wasn't doing that.. but I have plenty.

I have been trying to take a photo of this critter for some time. They will NOT sit/stay. Honestly... chasing them around the flowers with sweat dripping down my face and into my eyes..and glasses... sigh... Anyway... this was the best I could do !! I STILL cant get a closeup view ! I didnt even know what it was and finally got an ID from bugnet.com ! Closer cropped view in Note at top left

I was over the Moon seeing this little lady. We have had so very few butterflies here this year and today this one came and I havent seen one here before. A real "first".

First time out this afternoon with a new macro lens and alot to learn about driving it. BUT... I havent seen a Silver Spottted Skipper here before... it has surely been a fortnight of "firsts" here. So... fuzzy pic or not... just have to show it !!! Thankyou B.J for a definative ID !
