Tails

Tails
"Ducks' Ditty" by Kenneth Grahame (from The Wind in the Willows)

All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!

Ducks' tails, drakes' tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim--
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.

Everyone for what he likes!
WE like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!

High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call--
WE are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!

Rosalyn Hilborne, Smiley Derleth, , Kathleen Thorpe and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

Super photo !

The book... I have my Mum's book of Wind In The Willows ... original printing of 1910(although she wasnt born til 1918 her brother bought he this) It has the original litho print water-colours.

It is water damaged and was bought that way.

It is my dearest possession... and has been read hundreds of times. I STILL re read it and hear my Mum's voice reading it to me.
