This picture makes sense right-side-up and up-side-down! There is a horizon for each. Besides the usual reflections from water, part of the image was perhaps made by refraction under water! It was dry when I picked it up, but the paper had obviously been soaked. Crazy! From the same location as This One

Most of my recent cans have had a lot of water. This one did too, but I carefully carried it out and got it all the way home without tipping it. Then I tipped it over when I was getting out of my car and made those splash marks :-(. I might see if they wash off if I try to fix this one, but I don't think they will.

I was at the beach picking up a solargraphy camera in the late and very foggy evening yesterday. These incredible wildflowers were on the cliffs above the sea. Over the weekend I made a new "pinholaroid" camera, so I tried with a 2 minute exposure. When I got home I calculated the exposure including reciprocity failure and came up over with 20 minutes!! Anyway this is from my first pack of film through the new camera.

Santa Rosa Creek

I just discovered the path along this creek a few weeks ago, and it's only about 15 minutes from my house. It's wonderful, and I've been going there a lot. Several miles of peaceful trail along the creek. My dog Mango loves it too, of course.

First picture from my new " Red Rooster Cam ". "Red Rooster" is a kind of coffee from a local Sonoma County coffee roaster. This is a new sibling for my " Goat Rock Cam "! I guessed 4 minutes for this one.

Not quite what I envisioned, but it's getting there: I wanted even more of the low contrast, soft "pencil drawing" look . This roll was a little overdeveloped. I have learned a lot from developing and printing this last roll of FP4+ so I'm happy about that. Straight print 18 June 2013.

Made with my Goat Rock Cam which is a simple coffee can pinhole camera. 5x7 paper negative, 9 minutes. It was windy and there was a big willow branch swinging back and forth over the water on the right!

A little hard to see the sky in this scan, but it has a nice light silver tone....

I have been experimenting with making "faux POP" paper by soaking normal photo paper in KNO3. This was printed out, not developed. The paper negative is from last summer and is 116-size ( 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 in. ) Printed 2 June 2013.
The actual print is very flat and the colors are not this dark. These colors and details are visible, but muted. After I scanned it, I went to adjust the levels, and happened to try "auto". The software increased the contrast very much and this was the result. I like it so I decided to upload it, but it is not an accurate representation of the print :-). This must be considered a hybrid analog/digital process.
To my eyes: the color tone in clouds is about right. The trees are more pink/reddish and the grass foreground is a little more yellow on the print. The sky has more white and less blue in the print. There is far less contrast in the print.
Details:
Original negative: pre-flashed Ilford MGIV, Kodak No. 1A Autographic Jr., w/ yellow filter.
This print: Arista.edu RCVC pearl, soaked in ~5% KNO3 for 20 minutes.
Wet contact printed out under BLB fluorescent tube for 1 hour.
Washed in water with a pinch of NaCl.
Fixed in weak hypo ( ~5%) for 10 minutes.
Washed.
Toned, KRST 1:500 for 20 minutes.
Washed again.

Continuing experiments. F/22, 10 sec.
This was overexposed by only 1/2 stop and the effect is reduced. ( Light was also flat with no direct sunshine. ) The overexposure was intentional, then developed in old used dektol diluted to 1:8 with ice water.
