Montana-Dakota Utilities - Leola, SD

I still had one stop - the main one for my day's travels - ahead of me, so I didn't stick around in Leola too long. However, I did spot this along a side street. I haven't seen CPL online in ages, but I doubt he would be happy to realize another delta system is about to bite the dust!

I wasn't sure what I was looking at, but it seems MDU replaced the pole and sawed up the arm from the old one without bothering to unlink the suspensions or untie the insulators. It now looks like that the line going off to the left will be removed later.

After failing to find the new Leola 115/41.6kV substation, I made a quick detour to get a picture of the substation on the north edge of town once I realized the distribution here is 7200 delta!

Montana-Dakota Utilities - Bismarck, ND

A primary-metered tie that replaced a substation in south Bismarck, since one of several normally open interconnections with Central Power is just east of the substation (the guy wires on left are for the 115kV line MDU just brought in to replace the 41.6kV side of the substation). The line going to the right dead-ends a short ways down and likely was originally erected to designate MDU's right to serve the area instead of Capital Electric.

The Mouse River Park riser pole - can't believe they needed to mess with it, but I guess they wanted to make sure all three rural branches heading north from the Tolley sub were protected. Original: www.ipernity.com/doc/ndlinegeek/18520045
