Wandering round my back garden yesterday I spotted what I originally thought was a tiny damselfly landing on a flower. On closer examination I found this strange looking wasp. It is a a parasitic wasp which deposits its eggs in, on, or near the larvae of other insects. There a a huge number of different varieties. This one was around 3cm long, not including the "tail" which is nearly as long as the body.
