Jurassic Coast

Jurassic Coast
Stormy conditions at Sidmouth, Devon. The sign on the sea defence wall is to tell people to keep off the beach due to regularly occurring rockfalls..!!

Please view large, on black. Thank you.

Lovely stormy weather, Keith. This coast doesn't look as fragile as that in east Anglia.

Klasse Aufnahme, Keith!

Cracking shot and a fantastic coastal scene Keith, Excuse me for saying but surely you have to be on the beach to read the keep off the beach sign!. or does that apply to the other side of the defences.?

Thanks Maurice.........and you raise a good point. The sea wall juts out from the start of the line of cliffs and it is the part of the cliffs on the far side of the wall that are dangerous. There is a small bit of beach on the "safe" side of the wall and it's easy to read the sign from there. There are also numberous warning signs on the promenade too.

Ah, the Devon red!
Your PoV is perfect and the colour of the sea in the foreground makes the cliffs really pop. The moody clouds are great too.
Superb job Keith!

Wow, this is a gorgeous shot! The harsh weather and rough scenery is very appealing to me. I had no idea there was any such deep red soil in the UK!

Glad you like it Diane.................the cliffs are mainly sandstone, hence the colours. There's a link in my reply to Léopold (above) if you're interested.

It was a really windy day - I could barely stand still long enough to take the photo.

It was a stormy week. I had difficulty standing upright to take this photo. I think still looks beautiful though..............but the red cliffs look wonderful in the sunshine too.

Thanks for stopping by Susanne.

Wow, the colours and framing are just brilliant Keith and you have captured the sea beautifully. I can feel the stormy condition! A good reminder to be careful along that coastline. I remember a couple of tragic loss of life incidents in West Bay.

A superb shot.

I wondered if you'd see this one...........as I know you've been there before. This was the first time I'd been there in stormy weather like this and I nearly left the camera in the car! That red cliff is getting really badly eroded now though...........a disaster waiting to happen as people still insist on wandering around underneath it..!!

That´s something I really miss, living here in the middle of my country...no sea that´s wild and cold and takes my breath away...I love that!!!!

I'm lucky in that I live both near to the South Coast and also just a few miles from some wonderful countryside.
