Pompey Against Plastic Trash

Pompey Against Plastic Trash
This fish-shaped sculpture by Pete Codling,(based on Portsmouth's star and crescent motif), is known as the Treadgold Fish and has been made from scrap metal from Treadgold's, a scrap metal merchants in Portsea. It is travelling round the city collecting plastic bottles as part of the War on Plastic. I think it's amazing. As of yesterday it was situated on Southsea Common.

I was able to get this shot between the torrential rain showers we had all day!

Please view large, on black. Thank you.

Superb art, one in every city would be great to bring home the message how the world is drifting toward environmental destruction.

I agree Keith, it IS amazing! I love love love its tail-chasing round shape--what a wonderful character it has! Love everything about it. And it's gobbling plastic trash, how cool is that? A really neat idea, a fantastic work of art which is memorable, and that it's traveling around to spread the message? STELLAR! :)

Loved your comments, as usual! :)
Thanks for taking a longer look at that "mirage" picture that I love so much...heh...I'm glad it started growing on you! :) Also, I was tickled that you loved the super wide pano fence picture... my opinion is the same as yours and I just have to say that phone panos are just SUCH FUN! :)

LOL Fatburgers are not disgusting! They are DELICIOUS!! Look at this and do not drool on your keyboard! :D

Thank you all so much for your generous comments. We all ought to be doing our bit to try and rid our planet of all this awful plastic waste!

Isn't it strange how a person's name suits what they do...well in this case anyway!!
A good time to be reminded of all the plastic waste, but I see far too many plastic bottles thrown along the verges. When I had a dog I used to carry a bag to collect any I came across and dispose of them correctly.

Very well captured and framed Keith.

Ha, ha...........I never noticed that before :-))

Thanks for commenting Rosa...............plastic waste (especially single use plastic) seems to be "on trend" at the moment. It's all very well collecting it, but we need to figure out how to use less of it. I hope you had a good weekend.

You're right..............I drove past it yesterday (8th Oct) and it had nearly reached overflowing. I'm guessing they'll empty it and move it to a different part of the city!
