Humming Bird Hawk Moth

Humming Bird Hawk Moth
Taken on Skokholm Island. A first for me, so I was dead chuffed to get a few decent shots - not easily though as it flies very fast..!!

Andy Rodker, Nouchetdu38, Theres Mischler, Eunice Perkins and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a show off - the moth that is. Super shot. I have seen these but I go into panic mode trying to photograph them and never get any as good as this.

I can well imagine how difficult it is to get a good shot, but you have certainly managed it!

Thank you all very much..................I did get some more shots, which I'll put up in due course. There were two or three of them around and they seemed to love the Buddleia bush outside the cottage we were staying in.

I agree totally with Judith. I would be chuffed too! This year I missed a couple (or perhaps the same one twice). Super capture! Must be viewed large on black.

It was quite big...........it has a wingspan of around 50-60mm. The flowers are on a Buddleia tree which was immediately outside the cottage we stayed in.

Thanks Ernest...........glad you like it. I'd never seen one before, but I read that they're actually quite common in certain places.
