Welll remembered Neil - it's also been the Portsmouth coat of arms symbol for hundreds of years!

Thanx for the link, Keith. All this is educational as I never knew of the connection between Pompey and Turkey. This, even though Portsmouth F. C. have the Star and Crescent emblem on their shirts, which I had never questioned.
Maybe it is all in that part of my memory bank which has become corrupt ;-)
