This is an adult male Rufous Hummingbird. They are bright orange with a red throat (see pic below) and are really teeny tiny only 2.8-3.5 in (7-9 cm) long and weigh a mere 0.1-0.2 oz (2-5 g).

Time to Feast
|
|
|
|
This week in SSC:
"Surrealism"
This is a little piece I like to call "Time to Feast Among the Flowers." It involves a clock, a lamp, a painting and the "Multiple Exposure" setting on my camera plus a little "Mirror" effect in PicMonkey. I sent them all into another dimension for just a few minutes to achieve the desired effect. I hope you enjoy my "Surreal" entry. :)
And for Sight and Sound (it just so happens that there is a song that kinda fits):
The Red Hot Chili Peppers from their album "The Getaway" (2016)

Compliment

This week in SSC:
"Complimentary Colors"
I've never purposely worked with complimentary colors before and knew nothing about them so this was a good lesson this week.
I chose orange and blue for my colors because I like the way they look together. I hurt my wrist this week so I wasn't able to do as much as I would have liked. I started with an image I took of some embroidery thread and used a "kaleidoscope" effect in PIXLR to give it some interest. You can see the original and another "fractal" effect in the PiPs. (Sorry if my commenting is a little late this week.)

Bottle Fun

|
|
This week in SSC:
Bottles
"Use any kind of bottle/bottles in a creative way as the subject for your composition. You may process however much or how little as you like."
I learned something this week. I don't have many bottles in my life. :D I did save this one empty Kahlua bottle because I like the colors and the design. I thought it might be fun to play around with PicMonkey's "Mirror" effect for some different looks. I also used the "kaleidoscope" effect in PIXLR. You can see all of them in the PiPs. Which one do you like best?
