Green bottle fly in the thistledown
I understand this fly is a great friend of forensic investigators as its presence is a diagnostic on determining information about corpses. It can apparently find a corpse quicker than any other fly, to lay its eggs in there.

Sigh.

And such a pretty thing.

Pretty, with a great "nose" apparently, and preying only on those who already met their maker. Ok, not the taste of a gourmet, but all in all a lovely child of Nature!
Really nice "portrait" of this tiny creature, and the thistle fluff makes for a great background for its beautiful colors.
