Almost all the information that is available other than the book Quest of the Schooner "Argus" by Alan Villiers, Australian Navy, December 1951, is history told by the old fisherman and the Museum.
Danish Vikings had been fishing Greenland waters from century X.
They kept their catch only dried (not that hard with very low temps and no humidity prevailing).
Five centuries later, ships from here, had to preserve their catch UNTIL they came back,5 months after the catch... that is why we have salted cod fish, later dried at home, during October already back on the sunny country.
And, furthermore, they brought back 60 tonnes of cod liver oil too, ask D vitamin specialists and they will tell you why it is so important. Please bear with me one second more: They were very brave men.
