Breakwater

Excellent seascape Roger, seems to be one natural and one man made breakwater. Trying to think where you might be standing for this shot

Thank you Maurice, I'm stood on the pier that is attached to this extended breakwater but by using the zoom lens I have been ablecut out a section in between.

Well chosen point of view!
And it can well be seen, that the waters right of the breakwater are fairly calmer than left of it.

Every time I see such practical constructions, which have on their back at least decades, sometimes in their base centuries, I am amazed about all that mens work that was put into it. Who broke the stones, carried them, walled them up? When? How? Under which conditions? Who paid for it? And still it's here for the benefit of many. Why do we know kings, counts and generals and not the names of these heroes?

Just some thoughts, when looking on your lovely picture.
The colours are beautiful, too and I like that forest over there as well.

I do agree Leon and having worked in the construction industry for years it's something that has always fascinated me, the hard and heavy work with basic equipment coupled with the elements must have made building a big challenge.

Such wonderful colours Roger, especially the blue of the sea and the vibrant green in the background. You could be forgiven for thinking this was taken somewhere in the Caribbean :-))

The protection doesn't appear too strong, but the pic is excellent, Roger!

Thank you Armado, It has been in place for a century so I guess it must work well but rising sea levels may alter things.

Regarding the building of the breakwater, I think we forget how spoilt most of us are compared to our ancestors lives, I bet none of them knew the words leisure time.
