Handbrake On HFF
For anyone visiting the area this is an experience not to be missed, this was taken just before boarding. The ferry crosses the notorious Kyle Rhea straits to the Isle of Skye it has a six car and twelve passenger limit.
At peak tides speeds of over 10kts have been measured and the narrow sea crossing of under 600 meters can look more like a stretch of river rapids than a sea crossing. The MV Glenachullish originally built in 1969 for the Ballachulish crossing prior to the bridge being opened in 1975 she is the last operating manual turntable ferry in the Scotland..
Before the repaint, especially watch 1.25min in www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIlA2gaBlek
