Cali the one-eyed Calico

She showed up as a scrawny kitten competing with my cats on the back deck, wanting just a morsel of food. My cats hissed at her. “This kitten doesn’t belong,” they seemed to say. I immediately brought her inside and fed her what probably was the first decent meal she’d had in days. I noticed that her eye was obviously injured, and the injury didn’t appear to be fresh, for which I was thankful, as I didn’t want to think one of my cats or kittens had done this. Cali was fed and integrated into my cat family and soon she was one of the group. I’ll never know what happened to her eye, but I am glad she showed up on my back deck. I couldn’t imagine life without her.
