scan0031.jpg Watching "Asterix and Cleopatra"
Circa 1994. My father was a bargain-hunter. He loved to go through the discount rack at stores. On one trip out to the store, he came across an animated cartoon on VHS entitled "Asterix and Cleopatra," which was on clearance for 50 cents (or maybe $1.00, but I doubt he would have paid a dollar for it. 50 cents was normally his "buying price."). He bought the movie, thinking the grandkids might like it. It was the best 50 cents he ever spent! The kids all loved it, and each time they went to visit Nanny and Papa they'd ask to see the movie over and over again. (I'm not really sure why the cartoon was so appealing to everyone, but it almost seemed to have them "mesmerized." Maybe there's some sort of subliminal message or hypnotic theme. lol) If you ever have the chance to buy the movie, get it. If you figure out what it is that's so appealing to kids, let me know and we'll both get rich. :)
