Il Colosseo, Roma

Il Colosseo, Roma
Unexpected visit to Rome (by train) while delayed in Civitavecchia, the port of Rome.

1986 Antibes to Sicily YCA 'French Connection' Delivery Cruise. Eight Moody 34 Yachts.

The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering.

If you have to be delayed somewhere, it might as well be interesting. What an amazing place.

It was a whirlwind visit but It is surprisingly easy to walk around the centre of Rome.

How fun to be delayed in a city like Rome! Was there many years ago, took a similar shot, but several hours later my camera was stolen before I had changed the roll of film, so I never got to see it. Doubt, it would have been as nice as this one though.

Thanks. Really bad luck to have your camera stolen.
