1,6 Millionen Menschen leben in Barcelona, welches sich auf einem ca. fünf Klometer breiten Plateau direkt an der Mittelmeerküste befindet. Vom Ausblick Mirador dels Xiprers hat man einen großartigen Überblick auf die katlanische Hauptstadt. Die Sagrada Família befand sich bei Baubeginn im Jahre 1882 noch außerhalb der Stadt, im damals unbebauten Stadtteil Eixample.
