Great concentration (Explored)

Great concentration (Explored)
It takes great concentration to make great music. These percussionists are attentive to the music as they wait to make their entrance.

The MetWinds invited students to sit in with us. Since the stage only held 65 musicians, I sat out of one of the student pieces and photographed some of the students and our musicians from the wings. The lighting was very difficult with warm light reflected from the front and harsh blue light shining down on the percussionists. I converted the scene to black and white which eliminated some of the lighting issues.

To see the MetWinds live, check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgT0NZI6ChU.

Thank you for the link, the music is wonderful!

You play in the MWS? What do you play?! How marvelous to be so talented that you are in an orchestra like this!! I'm so very impressed, Esther! :)

They are counting through the rests. One does not want to miss their cue. As my orchestra playing wife says, "you don't want to play a solo when there is not one in the score.

What a great example of concentration you've captured here, Esther. Their concentration paid off. I'm listening to them right now and they sound fantastic!

My son played sax in the school orchestra and I so enjoyed seeing how all the parts came together.

What a wonderful entry for our challenge. :)

You caught their concentration really well! Percussionists (and brass players) always have to be on the alert because they have such long stretches where they don't play.
