Mmmm, fire.... :) Back when the house was empty (i'm not sure exactly how long that was, just that it was "a while") someone apparently tried to steal the wood stove, not realizing just how heavy a cast iron stove was, or that it was actually attached... It's all fixed now, and there's a shiny new cap on the top of the chimney, and now I have fire. :D
Original plan for the flameshop. I'm currently in the middle of ripping out that closet on the left (to be replaced with shelves running all along that back wall), so time to update the model...
I always forget just how long all the pre-painting prep takes - in my head, it's No Time At All; but in reality moving the big kiln all the boxes and things stacked along that back wall out of the room, and the furniture, and all of Sophie's things, and taking down the laundry closet doors, and removing all the lightswitch and outlet covers, and taping around the doors and windows, and putting the paper down on the floor took the better part of a day; patching holes and skim-coating over the heavy orange-peel texture took another day and a half; and then priming all the walls took yet another day. Getting the colors on the walls was actually the quickest part of the whole process (and done overnight, with Sophie napping in her crate in my room (the rest was done while she had all-day playdates at her best friend Burger's house - so much easier to be productive without an energatic puppy underfoot! :) )). :)
Still a work-in-progress - need to build bookshelves along those two walls under the windows, put up some coat-hooks on the left-hand wall, and paint the doors; but the boxes etc are out, the walls are painted, and the paper and blue tape is all up off the floor. :)
(colors: Nouveau Copper on the left, Sophisticated Teal in the middle (also behind me), Library Leather on the right)
