Older, largely abandoned, business area of Wagon Mound on what was once a main route, Railroad Ave.

Wagon Mound was named after a butte just outside of town (visible in # 1084) called Wagon Mound that was a landmark for travelers on the Santa Fe trail in the 1800’s.

Sad old scene, but so familiar, isn't it? I just took a little tour on SV and was amazed by how much business used to be in that town.

It is depressing to see, but then we're actually a good part of the reason... Many of us left small towns for the big city, we whiz by on the interstate and skip the old restaurants and shops, and we buy through Amazon....
