Don't normalize...

One of regularly recurring demonstrations to remind local motorists of the importance of immigration justice. We got generally good response with many waves and horn-tooting, but a few nasty responses.

Last fall we were in the Pine Nut Mtns, east of Carson Valley, and ran into a party cutting Christmas trees. They said hi and got out of the road for us. I think they were Native American, probably from the local Washo reservation. One pickup had a Trump sticker, and I thought, well, if any group has a legitimate gripe about immigration, it's the Native Americans! ;)

Unfortunately, that would be 200+ years too late.... There's a story in the local paper about a Native American construction company that is bidding to build on "the wall". It's too confounding to figure out for me, considering that we live in what was part of Mexico.

Well, an area _claimed_ by Mexico. Outside the missions in California and the Rio Grande valley in what's now New Mexico, the Native American tribes still exercised effective control. That didn't go away till after the US conquest--and yes, let's be blunt, it was a conquest.
