Leveling.... Watching the guys work, I was impressed at the steps required and the range of skills used to come up with a finished concrete look. Just prior to this photo, one of the workers was shaking the long pole with a very specific rhythm to insure a smooth distribution of the concrete. This was only about 30 minutes after they started pouring -- the driveway was already fairly well smoothed out, but it turned out to be another 4 hours till they had reached a finished product.

The Village of Oak Park has been repaving a lot of sidewalks, and I move through town with a horrible temptation I have trouble resisting. If I owned the wet concrete, though ... oh, if only.
