Heart Mountain Interpretive (Relocation) Center WY Burbank (#0561)
Interesting, and disheartening, detail on the post camp experience. When the camps closed, internees were given $25 and a ticket back to where they had been shipped from. When they got back to those towns, they found that everything they had stored was pillaged and that their former homes now belonged to someone else. The War authority assembled trailers for them to live in (pictures of a trailer camp in Burbank are in the photo), but immediately required deposits and rent even though internees faced discrimination in attempts to find work.
