Hamburg Harbour ferry ride (#0024)

Hamburg Harbour ferry ride (#0024)
Couldn't find a specific name for this. One source called it a Schiffsmeldedienst (ship reporting service), another a Leuchtfeuer (beacon). In either case, it's at the point for the transition from the harbor for Finkenweder to the main channel to Hamburg on the Elbe.

Clint, , have particularly liked this photo

It's called "Lotsenhaus Seemannshöft". Part of the building is used as headquarter for the harbour pilots. And indeed, the Schiffsmeldedienst.
Also there is a measuring location for water deep, quality and so on.

The Leuchtfeuer is located close to it, but more in east direction, closer to Landungsbrücken as it was visible in Openstreetmap as "Unterfeuer Bubendey Ufer": osm.org/go/0HoEOxduB-?layers=N

Funny was the sign which warns about strong winds by aircrafts - in this case just by Airbus - because the airbus - airport where they are constructed is close to this location and the new Airbus starting close above the river. :o)

BTW: If you would like I could try to geolocate your photos more close to their real locations, just drop me an ipermail (but it could take some time because I'm not this often online).

Thank you for the detail, it will be helpful when I get back. I didn't even notice the wind sign until you mentioned it. I saw from the satellite that Airbus is quite close, it would be interesting to see that from the harbor. Re locations, thanks for the offer but I'm just trying to give viewers a general idea of where I was when I took the picture, so not concerned about being too precise.
