Poland Auschwitz (#2317)

Poland Auschwitz (#2317)
I was not at all prepared for the fact that the site would be crowded with tourists. I estimated there were at least 40 buses there at the time I got there (there's a parking lot to my left). If they carried an average of 40 passengers each, that's 1600 people going through at about the same time.

I usually try to think of some analog location I've seen to compare this sort of thing, but I really can't think of anything. The only thing in the US I can think of that might come close is Andersonville, but I've not seen that one yet. I would want to go to Auschwitz if I happened to pass anywhere near there, so I can't say anything about the crowds. But I have to say, what you've posted so far doesn't meet what I'd expected.

David's response is probably right, though. I shouldn't be surprised.
