The old ones in the U.S. bring back memories of a completely different way of doing things, when you went to the same station regularly and the owner of the station was almost like a member of the family since they regularly took care of your car. I was stationed in Germany (Darmstadt) in 1967 & 1968 and I know I bought gas sometimes, but I don't recall at all what the gas stations there were like back then.
