HFF: National Express (Operations) NXL28 (YN55 NDO) in Mildenhall - 29 Jan 2007 (566-25A)
Monday 29 January 2007 - National Express Operations Limited NXL28 (YN55 NDO), an Irizar PB bodied Scania K114 new in May 2005, seen at Mildenhall Bus Station when working the 0915 Norwich (University of East Anglia) to Gatwick Airport service 727. Note the one piece electrically operated locker door operated by the driver.
The coach had previously worked the 0520 service from Stansted Airport up to Norwich arriving at 0805. Despite being a National Express owned coach, between Stansted and Norwich and on the return from Norwich to Stansted, the trip was driven by a Burtons Coaches driver based at Haverhill. Today it was driven by Artur Adamkieowicz, a colleague who previously worked on Burtons buses before switching to their National Express work.
Some months earlier a truck reversed into the bus station when making a turn and ran over the bus stop pole on stand A. (The pole was identical to that visible on stand B in the background). The cone, which almost became a lasting feature was to prevent passengers tripping over the base of where the bus stop pole stood.
