National Express Operations NXL25 (YN05 WJL) at Burtons, Newmarket - 26 Aug 2005 (549-10)

Friday 26 August 2005 – National Express NXL25 (YN05 WJL), a quite new Irizar Century PB bodied Scania K114EB4 that had entered service within the month of August 2005, seen at the Burtons Coaches outstation in Newmarket. (The outstation was at the Stagecoach Cambus property in Depot Road, Newmarket).

At the time Burtons drivers drove National Express owned coaches on certain route segments and this new coach had been brought to Newmarket for driver familiarisation purposes.

National Express added 14 coaches with the Irizar PB body to their fleet a year earlier in August 2004 (NXL1-14) followed by a further 15 (NXL16-29) in August 2005. NXL1-14 did not have a roof mounted destination display but this feature was included on NX15-29 which, it must be said, didn’t do too much for its looks.
