Cambus Limited 504 (UWW 4X) at RAF Mildenhall – 23 May 1987 (49-1A)

Saturday 23 May 1987 – The annual Air Fete held at RAF Mildenhall attracted vast numbers of visitors many of which used the Park and Ride shuttles with Cambus main contractor providing the buses for a number of years.

During the time that Cambus was owned by its management, prior to the Stagecoach Group acquiring the business, the company made a number of secondhand acquisitions in its early days buying buses surplus to two Northern based PTEs.

504 (UWW 4X) was a Roe bodied Leyland Olympian that had been new to the West Yorkshire PTE (5004) in March 1982 which was seen parked at RAF Mildenhall. Note the advert for National Express.
