King Alfred 326 CAA in Winchester - 1 Jan 2004 (518-17A)
Thursday 1 January 2004 – ‘Friends of King Alfred Buses’ (FoKAB) Running Day at Winchester (and surrounding area,

Preserved former King Alfred Motor Services 326 CAA, petrol engined Bedford SB3 with Harrington Crusader 41 seat body. One of three such coaches bought new by KAMS for excursion and private hire work in 1961 and sold in 1970. All three passed to Porter of Dummer. In 1979 this coach was bought by the Totton Girls Brigade Band. In 1986 it became the first vehicle owned by the ‘Friends of King Alfred Buses’ which was formed the previous year. It first appeared in its current form at the FoKAB running day on 1 January 1992, an event which sees different preserved buses and coaches running a network of fully timetabled free services to create a 1960s atmosphere. It ran on a 30 minute tour through most of the running day and covered the 1615 service 12 to and from East and West Stratton. Seen at Broadway with OU 9286, the 1931 Short bodied Dennis, behind.
