Burtons Coaches W903 UJM at Mildenhall- 10 Jan 2006 (554-26)
Monday 10 January 2006 - On Monday 3 January 2006 Burtons Coaches introduced a new commercially operated service 356 between Mildenhall and Bury St. Edmunds competing with the Suffolk County Council supported services along the same route. W903 UJM, an Alexander ALX200 bodied Volvo B10BLE, carried the 'Timesaver' and route branding for the service. It had been transferred to Burtons from Tellings-Golden Miller at Portsmouth where it had been employed on the X27/X47 'Solent Clipper' services linking Portsmouth and Southampton. Milldenhall's controversial bus station was set to open the following Monday (17 January) and until then Bury St. Edmunds departures were from outside Bussens and Parkin's store in King Street which had limited space. Consequently we parked the bus outside St. Mary's Church in the High Street until it was time to load for the return trip.
