Acadian Lines 919 at Truro (Nova Scotia) - 8 Sep 1992 (Ref 175-08)

Tuesday 8 September 1992 (approx. 2000) - Acadian Lines 919 seen at the company’s terminal in Truro (Nova Scotia). Parcel carriage is a lucrative business for the inter-city coaches and the volume for this trip was quite substantial, the load here comprising boxed bicycles. The previous day (Monday) had been Labour Day, a public holiday, which had been quite busy with increased passenger numbers. As a result there had been quite a number of duplicate coaches employed on the service. The coaches had been left at various locations along the line of route and the drivers travelled back ‘riding cushion’. One driver originating at Sydney; another at Antigonish and one at Truro. This was the 1415 ‘all stops’ service from Sydney to Halifax trip 54 – a journey of approx. 270 miles taking 7 hours 35 minutes. The coach was an MCI MC8 Crusader, a secondhand acquisition which still carried the livery of a previous owner. (Ref 175-08)
