Here's an beauty: a Gulf Power corner pole with no fewer than twelve Ohio Brass Baum Patent disks! Also note the very heavy copper conductors. This is the oldest construction I have been able to find on Gulf Power, dating back to about 1920-25.

It seems 'Baum Patent' might be a misnomer after all; the patent describing that style was in fact assigned to A. O. Austin (he took out two landmark patents - the rare 1910 style has a conical cap and THIN shells, while the banded cap version seen here is the 1917 style).

Interesting. Do you know of any 1910-style disks that survive in service?

It is notable to see how many of these old 1917-version disks have survived in service for over 90 years. I think they have a higher survival rate than many other insulator types.

Mike Parker said the tower behind the brakestomper in this picture www.insulators.info/pictures/?id=281494761 had two of the 1910 disks still in the air. (9099 SE Stanley Ave., Portland, OR)
