DEFY TIME... The dolmen "House of the fairies" dates from the Neolithic period (2500 to 4000 BC) and consists of a trapezoidal cover table resting on 4 orthostats (large standing stones that support the roof in megalithic tombs). All the slabs are in pink sandstone, and like all Druidic dolmens, it faces west. According to legend, this dolmen was built by fairies : on the cover slab you should even be able to see the prints left by the head and hands of the fairy who carried the stone...
I put my photo to show the size of the dolmen.

As we have said before, we have Dolmen like this in Wales too, as well as many words from French Brittany language. (Obviously the problem of crossing the channel is not new!)
Is that really you holding up the big slab, just as the fairies did.!! I am impressed!
Fantastic autumn colours too
Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

Christa1004 club has replied to Peter_Private_Box clubKidding you, Peter, I think all people would take such a photo when seeing this dolmen, it's too tempting to take this shot... Thanks for your comment and keep fine.
Interesting too, the term, 'dolmen'. I am playing an online game which features special 'dolmen' spots and they are set up as big celtic-like circles, sometimes with rocks arranged like these. Neat!
Christa1004 club has replied to Janet Brien clubThroughout Europe, these megalithic monuments can be found. In Brittany (Western France where I live), there are many testimonies of these distant times.
Christa1004 club has replied to Peter Castell clubVor etlichen Jahren habe ich in der Bretagne "La Roche-aux-Fées" auch ein solches Steingrab gesehen.
Danke sehr für die Erinnerung.
Schöne Grüße und einen guten Abend
