Kleiner Schlehen-Zipfelfalter: Ein eigenartiger Bläuling - Sloe hairstreak: A peculiar blue butterfly

The slow hairstreak (Satyrium acaiae) is a very small butterfly, which belongs to the family of blue butterflies (Lycaenidae) due to many characteristics, although it is predominantly brown on the underside as well as the upper side and has no blue colouring. The two small hairstreaks on the hind wings ("tails") are conspicuous. The caterpillar feeds on blackthorn leaves, the butterfly prefer warm, dry sites with stunted blackthorn bushes like the scarce swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius). The butterfly species is included in the Red List of Germany.
