Benannt nach der römischen Göttin der Morgenröte ... Named after the Roman goddess of dawn ...
... is this relatively small butterfly, which is currently flying. It's the orange tip (Anthocharis cardamines), the butterfly of the year 2004 in Germany. Males and females of this butterfly species differ significantly (sexual dimorphism). The animal pictured is a male, recognizable by the bright orange spots on the tips of the forewings. The underside of the wings is irregularly yellowish-green and white-lined. The moths are therefore excellently camouflaged when the wings are folded. The females look like cabbage whites on the upper side, the underside is identical to that of the males (see www.ipernity.com/doc/cammino/51283602)
