Blue Christmas ...

Blue Christmas ...
A similar shot to the one I submitted for the recent Sunday Challenge, which had the theme of Christmas.

This one processed to reflect the 'other side' of Christmas. With 1 in 4 people in the UK expected tp experience a mental health problem each year and loneliness on the increase (especially in the over Seventies) it would seem that not everyone will have the type of Christmas they might have wished for.

Not so much merry or even white, but rather more lonely and blue. My thoughts then go out to those people for whom this Christmas may not be the happiest. Hopefully, 2015 will see them experience better times.

I really like this image and your thoughtfulness for others. But can I put another point of view ? I am seventy six and have spent Christmas alone since I was in my thirties. Maybe about half a dozen times I have spent it with other people but I've never enjoyed those occasions. I've always had to pretend. I love being alone and my neighbour who is in her eighties is the same. We could join up but we don't. But we are not sitting there going "Bah ! Humbug !" We have our own traditions and we give and receive cards and presents. We're just happy to escape from the turkey and paper hats and people being terribly kind to us. I suppose it's the difference between being alone and being lonely.

Thanks for the comment Jean ... the distinction you make in your closing statement is very astute and I guess something we need to keep in mind when discussing this subject.

Happy Holidays Paul =)

I say it is time for you to publish something new after the "project elephant" ;-) All we can now do is to wait and hope Team Ipernity to become active again. Or if they are planning to sell the service, then hopefully someone with a taste and sense for the service as it is will buy it =D
