The American Monument / La Fontaine
The American Memorial commemorates the support of French troops during the First World War by the "Services of Supply" of the "American Expeditionary Forces".
The mission of the SOS was to support and supply the soldiers present at the front against the Germans.

The fountain, the base of the monument, has a circumference of 32 meters.
The upper part is an octagonal pillar, on which the coats of arms of the eight cities, which served as a base for the SOS, can be found.
On the large square column, four female figures representing the four main services of the "Services of Supply": Procurement, construction, administration and distribution.

The bronze statue is covered with a thin gold leaf. It depicts a native American.
The symbolism is not very clear, but the figure of the Indian could refer to the locals who helped the Americans with some of their conflicts. Another hypothesis suggests that it might be an allegory of freedom or a parallel between the disobedience of the Indians and the French (against the Germans).

Erhard Bernstein, Berny, Kawasirius, Jenny McIntyre and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo
