Cycling from Bordeaux Vineyards to the Atlantic Coast /Tours

On the way back to Tours a little sightseeing tour of the town

The Town Hall of Tours was built between 1896 and 1904 on Rue Nationale.
The monumental building is intended to reflect republican virtues and communal authority. The Town Hall and Jean-Jaurès Square are reminiscent of a Parisian complex.
The interior and exterior decoration accounted for a quarter of the total cost.
There are four atlases on the façade and two caryatids (Le Jour et la Nuit) to the left and right of the clock.
The roof served as a model for the restoration of the Montreal Town Hall after the fire in 1922.
