NAMBAN ART
The Japanese called the Portuguese, the first Europeans who arrived in Japan, "namban jin" - barbarians from the south. A new type of art has developed, showing the contrasts between East and West, where the Potuguese and their customs were caricturated. The most representative forms of this art are richly decorated folding screens.

See the visible irony of these artworks, LV CAMÕES looks for "Os Lusíadas" through a manual monocular upon his blind eye, and D.HENRIQUE makes a mitt with his arms, "Zé Povinho" type, against the Portuguese Discoveries Enterprise (personal note)
