The Alyeska Pipeline Crossing the Right Arm of the Tanana River
The Alyeska pipeline was built between March 1975 and June 1977 and ran from the North Slope fields at Prudhoe Bay to the offshore terminal at Valdez. Pipe diameter 48 inches, total length 800 miles. The first oil entered the pipeline on June 20, 1977, and the first tanker departed Valdes on August 1, 1977.
