Dominican Republic, The Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata)

Dominican Republic, The Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata)
The common gallinule (Gallinula galeata) is a bird of the family Rallidae. It lives around well-vegetated marshes, ponds, canals, and other wetlands in the Americas. It was split from the common moorhens (Gallinula chloropus) that living in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The scientific name of the bird (gallinula) indicates some external similarity with domestic chickens.
