Notation: These sisters were, individually actresses of renown in the U.K through the very early 1900s. They never shared a stage until 1940.

Another "bargain bin" find, this card has a pre-printed stamp and a blank reverse. I have seen other examples of it having been posted as early as 1898. Believed to be issued in 1887?
The note on the reverse was written at a train stop somewhere on "Lake S." (Superior, perhaps?). the message reads; "Dear Maggie. We are standing still, waiting to cool off a hot box or some such thing. The men are out gathering blueberries and raspberries. Jarvis has just come in and says they have stopped to taken great supplies of fish & trout of all kinds.
We have enjoyed our meals very much especially as James prepared them, as Alma said "our stomachs were very nearly upset" were decidedly on the slant. We are going to have sliced bananas and milk for tea tonight. We have enjoyed them so much already so much.
James is glad to be near the end of his long journey. He found Charley just the same as ever and delighted to see him. Lovingly Jennie."
