Dettifoss
Dettifoss, 45m high and 100m wide, is one of Europe's mightiest waterfalls. River Jökulsá a Fjöllum comes from the northern side of Vatnajökull and has carved a deep gorge (Jökulsárgljúfur) with several waterfalls.

Other peeps have said "Wow!". It's definitely a Wow! from me too, Gudrun. An awe-inspiring perfectly chosen viewpoint and the inclusion of the brightly coloured figures is the perfect addition and they give such scale to the scene. Even more breathtaking when viewed large.

Herzlichen Dank, Rainer! Da kommt enorm viel Wasser vom Gletscher runter, oft ist es braun-grau durch all das Gesteinsmehl.

Thanks a lot, Esther! It can become even more powerful when a volcano melts some of the ice under Vatnajökull- but then they close off the area;-)

Thank you so much, Roger! On a former visit I was down there but the photos didn't really reflect the power and size of the falls, too near.... This time I didn't bother because of the very bad weather and only took two photos which turned out better than the former ones;-)
