Reykjarfjörður

Reykjarfjörður
Reykjarfjörður is a side arm of Suðurfirðir, the southern part of Arnarfjörður. There are thermal springs and a small pool at Reykjarfjörður, Reyk in place names denoting hot springs. The farms are deserted and only summer homes are left, a typical story in the depopulated western fjords.
Summer inhabitants include sheep and arctic terns. The latter are extremely aggressive defending theis nests.

I agree with Juleann on this Gudrun. Looks like it was a hard life there - its July and there's still snow on the hills. I like the tern image too.

Thanks, Graham! It was hard and when the local fishing industry collapsed many left the area to look for jobs in Reykjavik. People who need the bright lights of a city would go crazy during the winters in the fjords...
