Iquique developed into an important port during the saltpeter boom. Many historic buildings stem from that time, though some are sadly neglected or derelict.

..yo, wollte die Bilder und die Aufschrift genauer sehen - mach fast alle Fotos auf "Original-Größe", weil ich die Details sehen will. Drum find ich's auch schade, dass viele hier nur noch so arg verkleinert hochladen!

Mach ich auch so! Ich finde es lästig, wenn dann das Foto schon auf schwarz winzig ist... Manchmal sind es vielleicht auch nur die Einstellungen, in welcher Größe man die Fotos wem zeigt, aber einige laden bewusst Minis hoch, unterdrücken die EXIFs, platzieren nicht und haben keine Tags. Das ist dann schon ein bisschen mühsam;-)

Vielen Dank, Maik! Dieser Boom war mit der Entwicklung von Kunstdünger vorbei... Iquique berappelt sich aber wieder, es hat einen Freihafen und viele Chilenen fahren dort an den Strand in Urlaub (Surfen).

Many thanks, George! Because the sea mist didn't lift all day everything looked a bit desolate- I'm sure it would have been different in sunshine.
