Træna is an outlying group of over 100 small islands on the Helgeland coast, right on the polar circle, of which only 4 are inhabited. Archeological finds suggest that people have been living on the islands since the stone age.

Fatamorganas kenne ich eigentlich nur aus den heissen Wüsten. Man lernt nie aus. Offensichtlich gibt's die auch im hohen Norden bei eisiger Kälte...

Herzlichen Dank, Ko! Diese steilen Berge haben mich fasziniert, dazu die Luftspiegelungen.... Die Inseln liegen allerdings so weit draußen, dass ich nicht nur bis zum Abschlag zoomen musste, sondern auch noch eine Ausschnittsvergrößerung gemacht habe -sozusagen Digitalzoom:-)))

Thank you so much, George! Those peaks never cease to amaze me, they look so strange! It's not the first time I have seen mirages in Norway, it makes you realize just how many skerries are out there.

Großen Dank, Iris! Ja, Hinkelsteine passen.-) Obelix wird sich sicher auch irgendwo als Berg finden lassen-LOL

Ich hatte zwar einen 1,4 Telekonverter dran, musste aber trotzdem noch am Rand wegschneiden, damit's nicht zu winzig aussah... Bei der 6D fehlt halt der Crop-Faktor;-))

Fascinating shape of the rocky islands... I remember how the landscape is rough at polar circle area (ferry Jetkvik - Kilboghamn), but we've missed this set of remote islands.

I wonder why the sea surface is so uneven in the far distance - was it so stormy sea, or is it some other special effect?

Thanks a lot, Tom! These islands are relatively far out and you need really clear skies to see them. The uneven surface may be in part due to swell and in part due to the mirage, it's hard to tell...

Großen Dank, Uwe! Luftspiegelungen sind faszinierend, meistens kommen sie mit Tele besonders gut raus bzw. man erkennt sie dann erst richtig.
